The Great Big Climate Circus

The Great Big Climate Circus is a touring, youth-led creative movement that turns climate concern into confidence, skills, and collective action. Through circus, music, art and performance, young people build leadership, shape local projects, and create visible change in their communities.

The Great Big Climate Circus (Climate Circus for short) aims to empower and inspire Gloucestershire young people to take climate action that is hopeful, creative, inclusive, and rooted in place.

Funded by the National Lottery for four years from 2026 to 2029, the Great Big Climate Circus visited Stroud, Dursley, and

Gloucester in 2026 (Year 1).

The youth-led circus will arrive in Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, and the North Cotswolds in 2027 (Year 2).

In 2028 and 2029 (Year 3 and Year 4), the youth-led touring circus will visit six more communities across Gloucestershire.

The Climate Circus starts with free arts workshops working with communities of young people collaborating and co-creating content.

These free workshops include poetry, rap, spoken word, song, dance, acrobatics, photography, film, and costume and prop-making.

They come together to create three spectacular Big Top circus shows in the summer.

To make all this happen, the Great Big Climate Circus needs you.

We are looking for young people, local groups and organisations, performers, artists, and practitioners to help co-create the Climate Circus. If you’d like to join the circus, host an activity, collaborate as an organisation, support or sponsor locally, or just receive updates, sign up now.  Contact info@worldjungle.org.uk

The Great Big Climate Circus is funded through the Climate Action Fund from The National Lottery Community Fund, to support communities across the UK to take action on climate change and involve more people in climate action.

The project is delivered in partnership by Creative Sustainability, Cotswolds National Landscape, Bromford Flagship, Ernest Cook Trust, and World Jungle with On the Brink Arts, bringing expertise in youth participation, environmental action, creative practice and community engagement.

This significant investment by the Lottery and partners launches a bold, youth-led creative climate programme working across Gloucestershire. Rather than focusing on fear or blame, the project uses joy and shared experiences to make climate action accessible and relevant to everyday life for young people and their communities.

Young people consistently report they want to engage with climate and nature issues but rarely feel listened to or supported to lead. The Climate Circus project seeks to address this by giving young people a voice, both as co-creators of the Big Top shows, and then as Young Leaders in solution-focused climate and nature action. This is about building a generation of confident climate leaders and stronger, more connected communities.
