I am facilitating creative workshops and lectures to help students gain a better understanding of the impact felt by those who have been in care. The workshops will offer an historical perspective and encourage discussions around the existing care sector.

I have vivid memories of my time living in Dr. Barnardos Homes during the 50s and 60s. I also have many years experience of working within Social Welfare. These factors enable me to offer a unique and balanced insight to help underpin existing knowledge.

I have lived with depression for many years; this has lead me to use poetry as a means of exploring and managing my issues within adult life. I am dyslexic and therefore have a creative teaching style. I can read my poetry during workshops/lectures upon request.

My experiences include working within the homelessness sector, mental health and addiction. I have managed high-risk service users as a front line support worker. My working ethos demonstrates my full commitment to the service user group. This includes anti-discriminatory and non-judgemental attitudes. I also have a good working knowledge of BME issues.

Recently, I have contributed to the training and support of undergraduate and post- graduate students who have been on a variety of professional vocational courses. I am now in a position to offer formalised training, guidance and direction to those who have an interest in mental health and the care sector.
