African Sambistas
Led and managed by Rachel deGarang, African Sambistas are a popular local group with a big following. The style is African Samba, Samba Fusion, Samba inspired dance with a body percussive 'twist'. Weekly classes EVERY Wednesday at St George Community Centre 8.30pm to 10pm, always with live drumming. Afidance Community Dancers
Led by Norman Stephenson (Rubba) principal dancer and workshop leader with Adzido Pan African Dance Ensemble, Europe’s premier African dance group from 1985 -96. Ache/Abeng Community Arts led by Chief Nana Kofi Simba Leo
Born in Jamaica, Kofi Leo is a Master Drummer and Choreographer and has performed all over the world. He now lives in Dorset and runs regular Drum, Dance and Song Classes and Residential Weekends. Akumapa Dance and Drumming Ensemble
Akumapa meaning Pure Heart for the Ga speaking people of Ghana is led by Amazing Tetteh Amatey and is an off shoot of the famous Akomopa Pan African Dance Ensemble from Ghana. Amazing Tetteh founded this group earlier this year when they were in Ghana and have joined forces with Norman Stephenson (Rubba) director of Afidance, drummers Richard Love from Bristol, Claude Mackenzie from Gloucester and local artists to bring you a fantastic performance. Anna Rosenburg
Anna Rosenburg is an Independent Speaker and poet. She has worked mainly in Bristol and the surrounding areas. She describes herself as fun, fun, fun but serious when the need be. Anna facilitates creative workshops and lectures to help students gain a better understanding of the impact felt by those who have been in care. The workshops offer an historical perspective and encourage discussions around the existing care sector. Anna has lived with depression for many years. This has lead her to use poetry as a means of exploring and managing her issues within adult life. She is dyslexic and therefore has a creative teaching style. She can read her poetry during workshops/lectures upon request.
Baraka
Baraka is a multi-cultural, multi-racial, multi-national band based in Bristol. They have recently expanded to include a Kora/Djembe player from Senegal. He joins a line-up featuring musicians from Ghana, Zambia, Dominica, and Northern and Southern Ireland. Baraka is fronted by Ben Baddoo, Master Drummer and Dancer from Ghana. The band have recently finished working on their second album - "YOUR ARMS AROUND ME", their first “CRY FOR AFRICA” having sold well and been critically acclaimed. Fantastic, amazing Singer/Songwriter from Bristol – Celestine has a natural jazz/soul vocal style which moves effortlessly through different genres of music a singer with an inner beauty that shines through, a really hauntingly beautiful voice. Fresh Dance
Fresh Dance Co. have been together for 6 years and have performed at many events in and outside of Bristol. In 2005 and 2007 Fresh Dance Co came 1st in the street dance competiton 'Hip City'. Fresh Dance Co. currently consists of females aged 15 to 29. The best 2 words to describe Fresh's dance routines are 'energetic & powerful'.

Hazey Hoop
Based in Bristol, Hazey Hoop teaches ground based and aerial circus skills in formal and informal workshops for a variety of clients. Her skills include juggling (balls, scarfs, clubs), hula hoops, stilt walking, devilstick, diabolo, spinning plates, fire staff, low tight wire and static trapeze. Gloria Ojulari Sule
Visual Artist, B.A.Hons in Fine Art Painting 1996. Gloria Ojulari Sule is Bristol based with a studio at Spike Island, her work is influence by Contemporary Arts and Artists of African and the African Diaspora. Yoruba cultural art traditions figure strongly the ways in which she combines mixed media materials with paint. Gloria’s work explores race, culture and identity. Gloria works as a community artist in the South West but has also run workshops nationally and internationally. The artist attended the Dakar biennale of Contemporary African Arts in Senegal 2006 where she documented showing artists and their work and made a film on cultural identity. Her workshops include painting, drawing, banner making, transforming recycled materials and murals. Projects can be based on themes of, black history, Contemporary African arts, popular culture and identity and issues on recycling. MT Sense Dance Co
MT Sense Dance Co. is a multicultural performing arts organisation based in Bristol which presents diverse and spectacular entertainments. Last performances were at the QEH Theatre in Bristol in April 2009 with the show “The Second Nature”. The show combines acting, sign language, singing, music and an abundance of dance (modern jazz, salsa, capoeira, flamenco…) bringing together performers (actors, dancers, gymnasts and musicians) from the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Spain, France and the UK. Pitchy Patchy, Annet Richards Binns
Created in celebration of World’s Jungle’s first year, Annet’s performance is an interpretation of the Jonkunnu character “Pitchy-Patchy” she was awed by in her childhood Jamaica; normally played/performed by a man. Traditionally all Jonkunnu characters are played by male performers. Drummers Richard Love, Claude McKenzie and Tetteh Amatey (Amazing) will be supporting Annet.
